As an environmental, climate and sustainability adviser, you will ensure that, in our field of temporary water management, water treatment and wastewater reuse, we consistently strive for the best social and technical innovations that make a positive contribution to the environment, the climate, ESG, the circular economy and the energy transition. From implementing ‘smart water meter’ innovations, the BLUEWAVE programme or the ’silver label’ innovation, right through to collaborating with global water banks – working alongside your manager and your fellow water quality consultant – you ensure compliance with laws and regulations whilst using our innovations to contribute to a positive impact. You know how to implement and embed policies sustainably so that we comply with them across all our 1,500 projects worldwide.
You will coordinate our innovations in the areas of the environment, CO₂ emissions, climate, ESG, the circular economy and the energy transition.
The aim of this role is to position MTD globally as the leading authority in the field of safe, sustainable and high-quality temporary water infrastructure. In this role, you will be part of our QHSE department in Tilburg and will be based at our office. It is not a mobile role, although you will have frequent international contact with colleagues and external parties.
THE ROLE
As an Environment, Climate & Sustainability Adviser, you will be part of the Water Quality, Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability department. You will develop policy, initiate improvement projects and ensure that MTD continues to comply with national and international legislation and regulations.
Your responsibilities will include, amongst other things:
- Developing, implementing and improving sustainability and environmental policies
- Launching programmes focused on circularity, water conservation and CO₂ reduction
- Through the development of the BLUEWAVE programme and other water-related innovations
- Translating strategic sustainability objectives into concrete projects and actions
- Maintaining and further developing certifications such as ISO 14001 and 9001
- Supporting ESG and CSRD reporting
- Co-ordinating audits, inspections and certification processes
- Collecting, analysing and reporting sustainability data. Collaborating internationally with colleagues in 10 countries
- Maintaining contact with customers, knowledge partners, certification bodies and government organisations
- Raising awareness and building support within the organisation through training and knowledge-sharing
- Advising the board, management and international branches on environmental and sustainability issues
For large-scale projects (e.g. building a field hospital, organising a festival, an exhibition or a trade fair), it is essential to provide information to clients or train staff on new requirements. You are able to think outside the box and come up with new online formats and initiatives to achieve this successfully, whilst minimising our carbon footprint in terms of travel to those locations.
YOU TAKE THIS LUGGAGE WITH YOU
- You have a degree in Sustainability, Energy, Water or Environmental Science, Energy and Sustainable Development, Ecosystems and Technology, Environmental Chemistry, Environmental Science or Water Management;
- Experience in Environment, Climate, Innovation & Sustainability as a Consultant, Adviser or Staff Member;
- Knowledge of environmental and ESG issues and an interest in water, the circular economy and innovation;
- You are analytical and have good project management skills;
- You are able to build support amongst both internal and external stakeholders and have excellent communication skills;
- You communicate professionally in both Dutch and English;
- Ideally, you will have experience of working internationally and be willing to work from our office in Tilburg and undertake limited travel. Due to the carbon footprint, international travel will be limited to what is strictly necessary
