For over 35 years, MTD has been a global specialist in temporary water infrastructure for drinking water, wastewater and water treatment. Water is becoming increasingly scarce worldwide. That is why MTD is actively committed to smart water solutions, water conservation, the reuse of wastewater and providing insight into water consumption. Through initiatives such as the BLUWAVE programme, we help customers measure their water footprint and reduce their impact on water consumption. In addition, we actively contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals relating to clean water, the responsible use of natural resources and climate action. As Environment & Sustainability Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the sustainability and environmental policy within MTD. You act as the link between operations, management and external stakeholders, and play a key role in making our organisation, projects and international activities more sustainable.
What will you do?
Sustainability Strategy & Policy
- Developing, implementing and improving the sustainability policy within MTD.
- Translating strategic sustainability objectives into concrete projects and actions.
- Advising the board and management on environmental and sustainability issues.
- Identifying developments in legislation and regulations, ESG and CSRD reporting.
- Launching improvement programmes focused on circularity, water conservation and CO₂ reduction.
Coordination & Collaboration
- Working with all departments to further integrate sustainability into day-to-day operations.
- Act as an internal sparring partner for management and colleagues.
- Maintaining contact with customers, suppliers, certification bodies and knowledge partners.
- Raising awareness and building support within the organisation.
- Organising in-house training and knowledge-sharing in the field of sustainability.
Analysis & Reporting
- Collecting and analysing environmental and sustainability data.
- Preparing reports, dashboards and management information.
- Monitoring KPIs relating to water consumption, waste streams, CO₂ emissions and circularity.
- Supporting ESG and CSRD-related reporting.
- Translating data into concrete improvement measures and business cases.
BLUWAVE & Water Transition
- Further developing and coordinating the BLUWAVE programme.
- Supporting projects relating to water monitoring and water footprints.
- Promoting innovation in the field of drinking water conservation and wastewater reuse.
- Assessing the environmental impact of events, exhibitions and temporary infrastructure projects.
- Contributing to MTD’s ambition to manage water use in a smarter and more circular way.
Compliance, Quality & Certification
- Monitoring compliance with environmental legislation and regulations.
- Drafting and updating procedures, policy documents and work instructions.
- Co-ordinating audits, inspections and certification processes.
- Identifying and managing environmental and sustainability risks.
- Supporting the maintenance and improvement of certifications such as ISO 14001
What makes you the ideal candidate?
- HBO level of work and thinking, for example Environmental Science, Sustainability Management or a similar degree programme.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of environmental, sustainability and ESG issues.
- An affinity for water, circularity and innovation.
- Experience in project management and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data and reporting.
- Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English.
- Independent, proactive and results-oriented.
- Able to build support across different levels of the organisation.
- Strong organisational skills and adept at monitoring progress and results.
